About Symmetrical Flooring

Who I Am

Joseph Leger — Owner & Installer

My name is Joseph Leger. I own and operate Symmetrical Flooring. I do all the work myself — no subcontractors, no labourers. Every project I take gets my full attention from assessment through to the finishing details.

I started this business because I wanted to do this type of work at a level that's hard to find. Flooring and tile installation rewards patience and preparation — two things that tend to disappear when companies are running multiple crews and chasing volume. I take on a manageable number of projects and do them properly.

The Work

What I Focus On

Substrate Assessment

Before any tile or flooring goes down, I check for deflection, flatness, moisture, and compatibility with the planned installation system.

Waterproofing

Every shower gets Schluter-KERDI membrane — flood-tested before tile. I don't skip or rush the waterproofing stage.

Precision Cutting

The PIKUS 130 bridge saw gives me the ability to make niche cutouts, L-cuts, and mitered corners that an angle grinder can't match.

Dust Control

Crystalline silica dust is an IARC Group 1 carcinogen. I use a Hilti VC 150-10 X with HEPA Class H filtration — 99.995% capture at 0.3 microns — on every job.

Tools of the Trade

Professional Equipment

Professional equipment isn't about status. It's about what the work requires. Large-format tile can't be cut cleanly without a fixed-rail saw. Silica dust from tile cutting is a known carcinogen — standard shop vacs aren't rated for it. The right equipment is part of doing the job correctly.

The PIKUS 130 bridge saw operates on a fixed-rail system: the tile moves on precision rails while the blade stays stationary. That geometry eliminates hand-shake and produces repeatably accurate cuts — niche cutouts, L-cuts, and mitered 45° corners that a standard wet saw can't achieve.

The Hilti VC 150-10 X runs on every job, on every cut. Class H HEPA filtration captures 99.995% of particles at 0.3 microns, keeping respirable crystalline silica out of the air in your home.
